The Tucson Chapter Announces the 2019 Halpenny Intern

The Tucson Chapter is excited to announce that it has selected the 2019 Leonard Halpenny Intern Scholar, Rachel Spinti. She is the 24th Halpenny intern since the program began in 1996!

Rachel is junior at the UA who is majoring in Environmental Hydrology and Water Resources. A winner of the Wildcat Excellence Award, she is on the Dean’s list with distinction and serves as an intern for Pima County Regional Flood Control District. Rachel is completing a study-abroad semester at Uppsala University, in Uppsala, Sweden (her minor is in Swedish). She plans to enroll in the Accelerated Master’s Program in Hydrology in Fall of 2019, which allows her to take both undergraduate and graduate courses simultaneously during her senior year.  She has a 4.0 GPA.

This year’s participating organizations include Tucson Water, Montgomery & Associates, the USGS, and NV5.
