Phoenix Chapter Announces 2018 Bouwer Intern Scholar

The Phoenix Chapter has selected Silvana Burgos as its 2018 Herman Bouwer Intern Scholar.

Silvana is a junior at Grand Canyon University pursuing a B.S. in environmental science who aspires to obtain an M.S. in hydrology and water management. Silvana is currently participating in two research projects in the Institute for Environmental Sustainability at GCU alongside Dr. Randhir Deo and Professor Adrienne Crawford. She is a member of the Honors College and serves as the president of the GCU Environmental Awareness Club, which aims to promote environmental consciousness and empower students to create solutions to environmental challenges. Through her participation in the Herman Bouwer Intern Scholarship Program, Silvana seeks professional development in her chosen career field.

The committee selected Silvana because her application and interview included many examples where she acted as a self-starter, and we believe she will bring the same passion and energy to her upcoming summer program.
