BSMAR 17: Resilience through Recharge and Recovery

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these difficult times.  The Biennial Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge (BSMAR) 17 and Southwest Extreme Precipitation Symposium (SWEPSYM) has been rescheduled to Wednesday, October 7 through Friday, October 9.  Early Bird registration for the symposiums, workshops, and field trips have been extended to Tuesday, September 8.

The conference is a collaborative effort between AHS and the Groundwater Resources Association (GRA) of California. BSMAR 17 will feature 48 oral presentations, poster presentations, an awards luncheon, and optional workshops and field trips.  BSMAR 17 has also teamed with the Floodplain Management Association to hold the Southwest Extreme Precipitation and Effects on Managed Aquifer Recharge (SWEPSYM) which includes 12 more “hot topic” presentations on Thursday, October 8th.  For current information, please check the BSMAR 17 website.

This event continues a longstanding series of symposiums originating in Arizona in 1978. The last BSMAR conference was held in March 2018 in San Diego. BSMAR 15 was combined with the Ninth International Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge (ISMAR 9), held in Mexico City in 2016.

Past conference themes have included integrated water management, groundwater governance, regulation and management, economics, water quality, operational matters, monitoring and modeling, water reclamation technologies for MAR, alternative recharge systems, adaptation to climate change, MAR and land subsidence, and aquifer thermal energy storage.
