Reach of a River Project: A Traveling Exhibit

A new project, “The Reach of a River,” is in the works to educate the public about the value of the Colorado River. Currently in the funding phase, this traveling exhibit will tour 15 museums over a 5-year period. The goal is to create a highly immersive, interactive exhibition that engages water users in the complex issues surrounding the Colorado River Basin — and to inspire meaningful change that embraces stewardship and respect of the West’s limited water resources.

Featuring touchable objects, interactive technology, immersive environments and more, the exhibition will engage the public in the complex story of the Colorado River. From prehistoric to modern times, visitors will connect with the River as a critical resource and national treasure.

The organizers of this project have already assembled a dynamic team of scholars and scientists, museum collaborators, and a diverse cross-section of Colorado River stakeholders. The project is enthusiastically supported by more than a dozen project partners.
