The Flagstaff Chapter is hosting its first Water Walkabout field trip — and you are invited! All AHS members, family, and friends are welcome. Come along and learn about the geology, hydrology, ecology, and history of the Mojave Desert.

- Mojave National Preserve visitor center at Kelso Depot
- Dinner at Baker, CA
- Stay overnight at Zzyzx Resort (Cal State Fullerton Desert Research Center), bunkhouse accommodations ($18)
Saturday, February 16
- Death Valley National Park (Badwater Basin, Furnace Creek Visitor Center)
- Dante’s View
- Ash Meadows National Preserve
- Dinner in Tecopa Hot Springs, CA
- Overnight at Tecopa Hot Springs – campground ($19), hotel, and Air BNB options
Sunday, February 17
- Breakfast at China Ranch Date Farm
- Old Spanish Trail Highway to Las Vegas
- Hoover Dam
- Lunch in Kingman
- Old Route 66 to Peach Springs
- Grand Canyon Caverns
- Arrive back in Flagstaff 5:00 PM
The following Monday is President’s Day, so for some lucky workers it will be a day of recovery before heading back to work.
We will be carpooling from Flagstaff, but folks carpooling from Phoenix and Tucson could meet us in Needles at lunch time. There is no charge for this trip. Participants will simply cover their own costs and chip in for gas.
