Meixner Memorial Foundation – 2026 Field Experience

The following four minute video presents the need and rational for the 1-Year Masters in Science in hydrogeology at the University of Arizona.  It outlines the thinking of the Hydrology and Atomospheric Science professors on the need for the program (by coordinating professor Dr. Ty Ferré) and presents student and alumni opinions on the value of the program and their field experience.  The Meixner Memorial Foundation coordinated a two-day field experience to expose student to the practical aspects of hydrogeology.  Local consultants volunteered their time to discuss electrical resistivity tomography (by AHS Member Dale Rucker from Certerra, formerly hydroGEOPHYSICS), surface hydraulic characterization (by AHS Member Mike Milczarek from Trinity, formerly GeoSystems Analysis), well design and construction (by AHS Members Marvin Glotfelty and Ben Daigneau from Clear Creek, a Geo-Logic Company), pump design, selection and operation (Scott Johnson, General Manager of Miller Engineering and Sales), and well drilling technologies (by AHS Member Mike Van Aacken from Boart Longyear).  A third day held in Phoenix was coordinated by the Salt River Project where they described what the SRP water division does, provided geologic drilling logs for students to place a production well screen for water supply, and then took the group to see an operating drill rig.
