The new Director of the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), Karen Peters, recently gave a talk to the Environmental Professionals of Arizona. (Her official title is Cabinet Executive Officer while she awaits confirmation in the Arizona Senate.) She outlined a series of priorities and goals for several ADEQ programs. The talk was well-attended and the audience attentive.

For years, the utility of using Class A+ treated effluent has been a major theme of many water professionals and is the foundation for WateReuse Arizona. Direct potable reuse (DPR) could provide an additional drinking water supply for several of the most populated areas of Arizona, where wastewater treatment plants that can produce Class A+ water for recycling purposes are typically located.
