The 2015 annual meeting of the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS) is taking place at the University of California, San Diego! What better way to combat the winter doldrums than plan for the summer? Mark your calendars for 24–27 June 2015.
The theme for the conference is “Confronting Frontiers, Borders, and Boundaries.” The conference theme will allow AESS to showcase its interdisciplinary strengths on this vitally important topic, including such issues as transboundary pollution, environmental equity and representation, international connections and collaborations, and teaching across disciplines.
AESS serves the faculty, students and staff of the 2000 interdisciplinary environmental programs in North America and around the world as well as cross-disciplinary scholars and students in disciplinary programs. We seek to strengthen teaching, research and service in environmental studies, sciences and the humanities, and to improve communication across boundaries that too often divide the traditional academic disciplines. The Association facilitates the professional development of Association members not just as individuals but also to advance Environmental Studies and Sciences as a whole. AESS publishes the Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences (JESS). Become a member today!
AESS is now accepting proposals for individual paper and poster presentations, as well as proposals for full panels, workshops, discussion symposia, and mealtime roundtables in which all (or a substantial number of) scholars have already agreed to participate.
The National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) serves as the secretariat for AESS. The AESS meeting is connected with the meetings of NCSE’s Council of Environmental Deans and Directors (CEDD) and Community College Affiliate Program (CCAP).
