Resilience Through Recharge and Recovery, the 17th Biennial Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge (BSMAR 17), will be held April 1–3, 2020, at the DoubleTree by Hilton – Phoenix/Tempe. (Please note the date change from previous announcements). This 1.5-day symposium will feature numerous oral presentations, poster sessions, optional workshops, field trips and an awards luncheon. Abstracts are being sought for oral and poster presentations. Please visit the BSMAR17 website for more information.
The conference, a collaborative effort between AHS and the Groundwater Resources Association (GRA) of California, continues a longstanding series of symposia originating in Arizona in 1978. The last BSMAR conference (BSMAR16) was held in March 2018 in San Diego. BSMAR15 was combined with the Ninth International Symposium on Managed Aquifer Recharge (ISMAR 9) held in Mexico City in 2016.
Past conference themes have included integrated water management, groundwater governance, regulation and management, economics, water quality, operational matters, monitoring and modeling, water reclamation technologies for MAR, alternative recharge systems, adaptation to climate change, MAR and land subsidence, and aquifer thermal energy storage.
