Ty Ferré talk at Marvin Glotfelty’s
November 14 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Mark your calendars for an interactive presentation with the UA’s Dr. Ty Ferré on the new accelerated master’s program!
Dr. Ty Ferré will give a talk entitled, “We need your help! — defining the core knowledge and skills needed to enter the profession of hydrogeology, and how the UA’s 1-year MS will deliver on those needs.”
A community-wide effort is in progress to define what should be included in MS-level hydrogeologic education. In this talk, Ty will discuss why this effort is needed (have you tried to hire a hydrogeologist lately?), its expected benefits, and ways to get involved. Come prepared to be inspired to shape the future direction of hydrogeologic education! The discussion will end with a description of the new 1-year, in-person, MS in hydrogeology at the UA. This is a ground-up rethinking of the MS, designed to fast-track students from any undergraduate degree in science or engineering or related disciplines to enter the profession or continue on to a PhD. Be sure to attend if you are interested in pursuing a MS or if you know someone who is!
Ty Ferré is a distinguished professor in the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences at the UA. The 2016 Darcy Lecturer, he has presented over 100 talks on the topic of the improved use of groundwater models to address multiple stakeholder water issues.
A short chapter business meeting will be held at 6 PM, before the talk. We’ll be sending out invitations to this event in November, so check your email.
