Recap of the Northern Arizona Water Professionals Appreciation Event

— by Erin Young, Flagstaff chapter

In Flagstaff, water professionals congregated at the Museum Club, where the marquee read “Tremendous H2O Pros” to honor the hard work and dedication of those delivering and ensuring safe and sanitary water services across Arizona. Keep up the great work!

Arizona Water Professionals Appreciation Week was May 7–13 — hats off to all our water professionals! The Flagstaff chapter spearheaded the second annual Northern Arizona Water Professionals Appreciation Event at the Museum Club on May 12. The chapter partnered with AZ Water Association and Arizona WateReuse to host the event, with generous contributions from many sponsors, including Ardurra, Carollo Engineers, Civil Design & Engineering, Core & Main, JE Fuller, Hazen & Sawyer, KP Ventures, Michael Baker, Rock Creek, and WestLand Resources.

About one-third of attendees were AHS members, another third were AZ Water members, and the remainder were nonmembers, including several students from NAU.

The executive director of AZ Water, Suzanne Durkin-Bighorn, provided an overview of Arizona Water Professionals Week events, including Arizona Senator Rosanna Gabaldón sponsoring a proclamation for the fifth year in a row in the Senate and Arizona Representative Stephanie Stahl-Hamilton sponsoring a similar proclamation in the House. The 96th annual AZ Water Conference hosted a kick-off event on May 8 for Water Professionals Appreciation Week. This kickoff was attended by Senator Gabaldón and Representative Hamilton, along with many other members of the Arizona Legislature and AZ Water board members.
