Parched, the Art of Water in the Southwest – Exhibit Opens

Article submitted by Donald Bills, Emeritus Scientist/Hydrologist, Flagstaff Science Campus

AHS and AHSF is proud to be a sponsor of the water themed exhibit which opened on September 11th at the Coconino Center for the Arts and has been sold out since. There was a special viewing for the Steering Committee that AHS member, Donald Bills, attended on September 17th. Don reported that the exhibit is operating in a safe environment; social distancing practices are in place. The exhibit allows for no more than ten attendees per hour. Temperature checks, masks, and hand sanitizer are required before you can enter.

A few of the artists were on hand at the opening to discuss their art. Comments to date have been overwhelmingly positive. Each of the art pieces addresses one or several of the exhibit themes: carving, flow, volume, and purity.

The Exhibit will be at the Coconino Center for the Arts until January 9, 2021 before it moves to the Amerind Museum, south of Tucson from February 2, 2021 to January 16, 2022, and the Natural History Institute in Prescott in 2022.

Please visit the exhibit in person or register to view online here.
