This year marks the second Student Water Symposium (SWS). This annual symposium, organized by NAU students, is scheduled to coincide with Earth Week each year. The SWS provides both undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines the opportunity to share water-related research and build community collaborations. The event takes place in Flagstaff from April 17–19. This year’s theme is Water E-Quality.
The SWS Committee is inviting water resource professionals to serve as professional evaluators at the event. Evaluators provide feedback to students throughout the symposium on the content and style of their presentations. Oral presentations will last 12 minutes with an additional 3 minutes for Q&A. Each session will be approximately 1 hour, with 2-3 evaluators per session. Sessions will generally run from 9 am to 11:45 am, and 1 pm to 5 pm. Poster presentations will take place on Thursday evening. For most students, this will be their first symposium presentation; therefore, receiving constructive feedback is vital for their professional development.
They’re currently looking for evaluators during the following session times:
Wednesday, April 17: 1:15–2:15 PM, 2:30–3:45 PM, and 4–5 PM<
Thursday, April 18: 8:30–10:15 AM, 10:30–11:45 AM, and 4–5 PM
Friday, April 19: 10:30–11:45 AM, 1:15–2:15 PM, 2:30–3:45 PM, and 4–5 PM
If you would like to participate as an evaluator, please let Kelly Bessem know by March 31 (or as soon as possible) what days and times would be best for you.
