We’re happy to announce that BSMAR 17 planning is proceeding swiftly. We received 60 abstracts for 48 talk slots for the technical program and three poster abstracts. Work is also progressing on the keynote speaker and plenary session. The technical program, sponsor/exhibitor opportunities, and registration information should be on the BSMAR17 website in early December.
The symposium will be held from April 1–3 at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Phoenix/Tempe, located just southeast of Phoenix International Airport. Sixteen volunteers have already signed up; only a few more are needed to easily make it happen! Interested? Contact either Mike Hulst or Mike Block.
Volunteer Needs
Moderators. This team helps coordinate the technical program by obtaining PowerPoint presentations from the speakers and introducing speakers (four per session). The following sessions still need moderators: MAR and Recovery Testing, Design, and Construction (2); MAR and Recovery Operations and Maintenance (1); MAR Governance (1); MAR and Recovery and Water Resources Management (1); and MAR and Recovery Case Studies (1).
Student Poster Awards. This volunteer is responsible for evaluating student poster abstracts for acceptance, recruiting poster competition judges, tallying the judging results, and presenting awards.
Photography. This volunteer is responsible for taking photos during the plenary, lunch, and reception.
Registration. We’ll need one or two more volunteers for the registration desk.
Call for Student Posters
ASU, UA, and NAU students are welcome to submit abstracts for a poster competition. Please submit ideas to Lori Block by December 31.
